homELearning Activity 2 (S1-09: 4 Naveena Menon)

 Picture 2(b)
The focus of the image is the women and child lying on the ground. They are probably the focus of the picture as they are in the center of the picture and are the only human beings in the picture.

The women and child are both lying on cloths on the floor. The surrounding is messy and piles of cloths and rags are strewn everywhere. Rags and cloths are even tied onto railings.

The women is probably the child’s mother and she probably does not have enough money and hence she collects cloths and rags, perhaps to sell or sew, to make some money to take care of herself and the child.

I think that the photographer is trying to tell people that there are really poor people out there who work really hard only to earn a small sum of money. The photographer is also probably trying to tell us that we should be grateful for what we have because there are people who are less fortunate than us out there.

There are too many things to focus on in the image. If I were the photographer, I would have zoomed in on the women and her child.
