homELearning Activity 2 (S1-09: 15 Jonan Ling)

This is an image depicting the living area of a woman. On the floor is a woman, sleeping on some sheets with her child. She is wearing a small white singlet and tight black pants. Her child is wearing a patterned shirt and shorts. Both are asleep on the black dirt floor. A pair of simple shoes are at the edge of the sheets, presumably belonging to the woman. In front of the mother and child is a metal grille, upon which some clothes and cloths are hung upon. To the right of the sleeping pair is a large orange sheet, covering stacks of clothes.
The focus in the image is the appalling living conditions of the woman and the child. I know that for the fact that the woman is sleeping on the floor means she has no choice, she cannot choose where she wants to sleep.
I think that this picture and the photographer is trying to tell us that there are people out there who have no choice but to sleep on the ground, that there are poor people out there who don't even have a roof over their heads.
If I were the photographer, I would want to be able to take a shot of the rich and the poor side by side to compare and contrast the differences.
